The Mahwah Youth Leadership Academy, introduced in 2007, was designed as a follow-on program for the highly popular Junior Police Academy and is taught and run by the Mahwah Police Department. The Youth Leadership Academy (YLA) is a week long summer program dedicated to developing the leadership potential of current middle and high school students.
